Positive Climb Airbus A320neo · Flight deck
Each print of this edition is numbered by hand, from No. 1 to No. 25, and signed: on the fine-art print in pencil on the white border below the image, on the acrylic glass on the back. A signed certificate of authenticity comes with the print and states the title, the number, the size, the finish and the date.
Once all 25 are sold, the edition is closed and there are no new prints.
The acrylic version is printed on Fuji Crystal Archive photo paper and mounted behind gallery-grade acrylic glass. My signature and the number are on the back.
- Glossy and Deep: The acrylic glass deepens the dark cockpit and makes the panel lights and the blurred airport lights stand out.
- Razor-Sharp Details: Real silver-halide photo paper (Fuji Crystal Archive) keeps the fine lines of the displays crisp.
- Ready to Hang: The hanging system is fitted on the back, so the picture appears to float off the wall.
The fine-art print is made on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta, a 325 g/m² paper with a barium sulphate coating. I sign it in pencil on the white border.
- Darkroom Character: The baryta coating gives the paper the silk sheen and fine texture of a classic darkroom print. Its deep blacks make the amber panel lights glow.
- Razor-Sharp Details: Pigment inks on bright white paper keep the display text and the digits of the clock legible.
- Ready to Frame: A 2 cm white border on acid-free, museum-quality paper carries the number and my signature. Shipped unframed, ready for the frame of your choice.
One size: 80 × 120 cm. As a fine-art print on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta paper with a 2 cm white border, unframed, or behind acrylic glass, ready to hang. The signed edition is not sold in other sizes.

Safety
The acrylic glass print is heavy at 80 × 120 cm. Hang it with screws and wall plugs suited to your wall and to the weight. Carry and unpack it with both hands and hold it by the edges. Keep packaging material away from small children.
Care
Dust acrylic glass with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; for marks, use a little clean water. No alcohol, glass cleaner or abrasive cloths. Hold fine-art paper by its edges. Hang prints out of direct sunlight and away from heaters.
Positive Climb

The story behind the frame
Thirty-five feet above runway 25C at Frankfurt, at night. The Airbus A320neo has just left the ground, and the first officer’s hand is already on the gear lever.
Beyond the windshield, the lights of Germany’s largest airport have already lost their shape. They drift past as soft dots of orange, blue and white, while the cockpit in front of them stays sharp down to the last switch. The radio altimeter reads 35 feet, the height the certification rules use to mark the end of the take-off distance. The three green gear lights are still on. The hand is blurred because it is moving. Moments later the greens go out and the gear travels up.
Positive Climb is my first signed edition, and I don’t sell it as an open print. Twenty-five prints exist, all in 80 × 120 cm. I number and sign each one by hand: the fine-art print in pencil on the white border, the acrylic glass on the back. Every print comes with a certificate I sign as well, recording the title, number, size and finish. When the twenty-fifth print is sold, I won’t sell the picture as a print again. If you’d like to live with it for a month first, it is January in my 2027 calendar.
I check and sign every print myself before it leaves. Delivery to your door is included in every EU country and takes about three weeks. If a print arrives damaged, I replace it with the same number.
The details
I took it from the jump seat, with the panel lighting as it was, and added nothing afterwards. The focus sits on the centre panel: the gear lever, the clock at 19:09 UTC, SRS and NAV on the flight mode annunciator and runway 25C still showing on the flight management display. The title is the call that comes just before this moment. “Positive climb” tells the crew the aircraft is climbing away, and the gear can come up.
