About Aaron Püttmann
I photograph aviation from the inside: the flight deck, the cabin and the apron.

Where it started
I grew up around Düsseldorf Airport, a kid of the 1990s. My mother worked as a flight attendant for two leading German airlines, so aeroplanes were part of family life. Two memories from those years have stayed with me: the visitors' terrace at DUS, and my first jump seat ride, as a kid, on a CRJ200.
I still look up every time a plane passes.
Work
An aviation enthusiast since I was a kid, I studied aviation management and have worked in the industry for more than eight years. Photo and video assignments take me onto flight decks, into cabins and out onto the apron, and most of the photographs in this shop were made on those days.
So far I have photographed from the flight deck or the jump seat of the Airbus A220 and A320 families and the A350-900, the Boeing 737-400, 747-8, 777-300ER, 777 Freighter and 787-9, the CRJ700 and CRJ900, and an Ilyushin Il-76TD.
Photography
Photography started as a hobby in 2016 and grew serious over the years. I try to find the beauty or something interesting in every scene, and I only use the light that is there, never flash. Away from aviation I photograph cities, architecture, landscapes and nature.

Off duty
When time allows I go spotting at Frankfurt Airport. Otherwise I travel, eat my way through every city I land in, and squeeze in some sport.
At home I fly Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, currently the Fenix A320 and the TFDi MD-11, and Flightradar24 is open whenever something passes overhead.
- Favourite spot: the line-up view at Frankfurt’s runway 18
- Favourite aircraft: Concorde, every Boeing 747 and the Airbus A220 (a fan since its C Series days), plus a soft spot for the CRJ200
- Window seat, always

The book
I have written a German-language book about aviation: 101 Dinge, die man über die Luftfahrt wissen muss (GeraMond, 2017; 6th edition 2026).
The prints
People kept asking for prints, and photographs belong on walls. So PilotstoriesArt became my side project: a small collection of photographs from those assignments, printed to order. You find them as cockpit prints and wing view prints; paper, acrylic glass and sizes are explained on the print quality page. The signed editions and the new Flight Deck 2027 wall calendar have pages of their own.
- Fine-art prints on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta, or acrylic glass prints
- Four sizes in the original 2:3 ratio, from 20 × 30 to 80 × 120 cm
- Signed editions of 25 in 80 × 120 cm, one photograph at a time
I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
