The Airbus A350-900 normally flies long haul, but on this day it flew a special holiday flight from Munich to Palma de Mallorca and back, and I was lucky enough to be on the flight deck as a photographer for the leg back.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is Palma de Mallorca, minutes after engine start for the flight back to Munich. The hand of the captain in the left seat rests on the two thrust levers, one for each engine, and the big screens of the pedestal fall soft behind it. Each Rolls-Royce Trent XWB on the A350-900 delivers up to 374 kilonewtons of thrust, which is where the title comes from.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe Details\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eI took it from the jump seat with the focus on the captain’s hand and the thrust levers. Both engine masters are on, the start selector sits in its normal position, and on the radio panel at the bottom the first radio is still tuned to Palma: ground on 121.705, clearance delivery on 123.880 in the standby window. The two rounded rests on either side of the levers belong to the keyboards and trackballs each pilot uses for the flight management system. Golden Departure, the Embraer wing at sunset, is from the same evening, on my way home to Frankfurt.
